COURTNEY LOVE Won't See Court-Ordered Psychiatrist
April 25, 2002Courtney Love will not have to undergo a psychiatric exam to determine if she is mentally capable of handling her NIRVANA-related responsibilities under the NIRVANA LLC partnership, Judge Robert H. Alsdorf of the Superior Court of the State of Washington in Seattle ruled on Wednesday, April 24th.
As previously reported, surviving members of NIRVANADave Grohl and Krist Novoselic demanded that Love see a psychiatrist after they claimed in court papers that Courtney was irrational, mercurial, self-centered, unmanageable, inconsistent and unpredictable.
In sum, [Grohl and Novoselic] have cited no mental incapacity. [Grohl and Novoselic] have cited a business disagreement as to which reasonable minds could differ, states the ruling. In the absence of a good faith suggestion from [Grohl and Novoselic] of an identifiable mental problem or condition reasonably expected to last at least six months, this court cannot ignore or discount the likelihood that requiring a mental examination in response to a marketing dispute would serve no purpose other than to contribute a circus-like atmosphere to the trial. Defendants' Motion is, therefore, DENIED.
